Haul # 2: MARCH 2013

Finally! After about two weeks of trying to make this work, I now present to you my second haul! HAHA.
Just a little introduction before you actually read the whole thing. I bought a few of the stuff here myself at our local department store (Robinsons Place Tacloban) and I got the rest of these from Cebu except for a souvenir shirt I bought myself in Boracay during our Holy Week Trip. My dad pretty much paid for the stuff in Cebu so horraay for savings!
I did want to show the products I got from my local dermatologist but I figured I wanted to post that as a separate entry when I have already tried the products enough to actually give a reliable review on them.
Like my first haul, I will post a table of my product database containing all the details that you need to know about the products you will see and read about just in case you wanted to get yourself some. I also rated the products according to several criteria, 1 being the lowest and 10 the highest. I hope this will be useful.
So without further ado, here they are!

First off are two Baby Lips from Maybelline New York for Php 89 each.

I know a lot of people have these and a lot of people were raving about these but I was actually just disappointed. The green and yellow one is Menthol and the pink and blue one is Anti-Oxidant Berry. They both go on colorless. They both smell like chemicals with flavor. I’ve used the Berry one for about 5 days, everyday and about 2 to 3 times a day. My lips were ruined. At first application, I felt the moisture but in the afternoon, I would feel dry and my lips kind of get addicted to the balm so I need to reapply. At the end of the day, my lips would hurt. I couldn’t even smile or stretch my lips without feeling pain. I peeled a lot and have noticed visible lines. It was just terrible. I tried Menthol, just to see if it had the same effect, and it did. Never will I be purchasing these and their other kinds again.

So then I went on and looked for better lip balms. Another product that has gotten so much good reviews on Youtube is the Evolution of Smooth (EOS) lip balm. I actually thought it was only being sold in the US but I swear I saw one at a department store in Manila. I didn’t buy it. That I started to regret. I’ve been asking my dad to buy me one but he just couldn’t understand my description of it: an egg shaped lip balm. I was just about to give up when I accidentally saw a few variants at the Robinson’s Department Store. I was so happy, I bought it for Php 190.

I chose Lemon Drop because it was the only one with SPF 15. The rest didn’t have any. At first, I didn’t really like the smell. It wasn’t that bad but I don’t love it. I do love the concept, an egg shaped lip balm. I haven’t seen anyone in Tacloban use one of these. I watched a Youtube video saying that as far as moisture goes, this wasn’t much at all. The whole concept was just a gimmick blahblahblah. I beg to disagree. After my Baby Lips experience, all I really wanted was anything that could cure my lips. This actually did it. It’s not as watery moisturizing as the Baby Lips were at first application, but it does go on smooth. It is colorless, by the way. After several days of using it, my lips felt really better. And I’ve used this ever since. I don’t use it every day, just when I feel like I want to put something on. Paired with my Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain, this is just perfect. It isn’t the best out there. I know Burt’s Bees and Carmex are good but this is definitely a lot better than Maybelline.

I’ve also purchased two products from Ever Bilena. The first one is the Grip Germany Eyelash Curler, Php 95. I have nothing much to say about this really. It comes with a rubber thingy so it didn’t hurt when I use it. Next one is the Advance Perfect Eyebrow, Php 50. I’m not into eyebrows so I have nothing to say about it, plus I haven’t really used it. I don’t even know why I bought it. Haha!

Next is Maybelline’s Clear Smooth All in One Shine Free Foundation in Nude Beige. It’s actually just a refill but I have been looking for a nice powder to set my makeup and this is just what I could find. It isn’t a setting powder though but I often use it for that purpose. I forgot how much it cost, I’m sorry.
This has good coverage. I apply this after I put BB cream and concealer. Its lasting power, not so good. I haven’t used it enough to give any reliable reviews. I will do a separate entry for in depth reviews.
The last beauty product I bought in Tacloban was a blush also from Maybelline.

I bought this Blush Studio Cheeky Glow for Php 199. Quite pricy but I bought it anyway. I’ve used this everyday during our Holy Week trip to Boracay and this is great for a natural and sheer kind of flush, depending on how much product you apply. A little goes a long way with this. I tend to tap excess product before I apply it using a brush. But I wouldn’t recommend using it for performance because it does wear off when you sweat. I used it on my sister and Aya on their Recognition and Graduation Days and that’s what I noticed.

Next is a pair of white shorts from Whatever.

I bought it for Php 449 because it was discounted for 10%. I’ve been wanting to buy a pair of white shorts that I could use at the beach and this was just perfect for Boracay. I used it during our Holy Week trip and I love it.
Next up are stuff that I got in Cebu and one from Boracay.
I’ve been eyeing on Eyes Lips Face (ELF) brushes for a while but I was hesitant to buy them in Manila because they were so pricy compared to their original price in the US. All brushes had about a 100% mark-up. But since my dad was paying, I took the opportunity to grab two brushes and regretted not getting more.

I got a Blending Eye Brush, Php 129.75 form ELF’s Professional line. One thing I really noticed about it was that, even before I used and washed it, just right after opening the packaging, I experienced a lot of fall outs. I was worried that if I washed it, it would get worse. Fortunately, it didn’t. This brush is good for blending shadows. It is slightly tapered. The hair is flexible which is good for its purpose. I don’t really have another one like it so I don’t have anything to compare it with.
I also got a brush from their Studio line, the Eyeshadow “C” Brush, Php 249.75. I am in love with this brush. It totally defeated my EcoTools one. This is great for packing on color on the lid. The packaging looks classy and it does feel sturdy. No fall outs whatsoever. It is tapered and the bristles are short and not flexible which is perfect for its purpose. Love love love.
I have also been eyeing this next one. It’s the Wet n’ Wild Color Icon 8-pan Palette in Blue Had Me At Hello, Php 499.
I really like how it has labels on them, like which color you should put on the browbone, lid and crease and which one is good as a definer. But then you could also mix and match to create your own color combination. The pigmentation is good. It is slightly chalky. It goes on great on the eyes, and I haven’t even tried it with an eye primer yet! The colors are blendable and easy to work with. Color payoff is just great.

The last two beauty products are from Maybelline New York. First is the Makeup Remover (Eye and Lip), Php 119 and the second one is the Lasting Drama Gel Liner, Php 449.

I have been looking for a really really good black liner that I could use even on my waterline. This is just perfect. It comes with a good brush. It lasts a very long time considering it has steep claims as to its lasting power. It does go on well on the waterline, does not smudge whatsoever. I am in love with it. You just have to be careful with the brush though. You have to clean it after every use to avoid hardening so as not to affect the application of the product. It is very difficult to remove so I use the makeup remover.
This is about 40 mL of product. I use this to remove my eye makeup, not so much on the lips. I use tissue and cotton buds for those really tiny parts of the eye. It isn’t irritating at all. It does serve its purpose so I have nothing else to say about it.
The next ones are just clothing and an accessory.

I got this True Love dress for Php 699.75 at the department store. I love the cutout at the back. And I figured I could use it this summer. I find it too plane so perhaps I could use a belt or an accessory to go with it.
This blouse is worth Php 649.75 from Red Head. I just fell in love with it and I knew I could not let it go. Despite my efforts, I just couldn’t find a good pair. I plan on wearing this on my friend’s party but I’ll have to find something to match it with. I did buy a ring to go with this.

The ring costs Php 249.75 from What Women Want (WWW). It’s just a nice accessory that could match the blouse.
Lastly, I bought two of the same shirt, both for only Php 180, I think. They’re both the same size and I gave the other one to ze boyfriend, Charles. This was the only really good design I found so I bought it from a local souvenir shop at D’Mall in Boracay.

So I guess that wraps up this haul! Will save more to buy more. Hope you found this useful.
Ciao!
