Location: The Rose
Pike @ Boracay, Station 3, Beach Front, Boracay Island
Price range: Middle
My boyfriend and I
went on a trip to Boracay on April 28 to May 1, 2015. We stayed at this
mid-range hotel called The Rose Pike which was situated at Station 3 and had a
beach front accommodation. The hotel came with their own restaurant called
Koyster Boracay. We also had our daily breakfast there. I'd like to share my
thoughts about the restaurant.
I have to admit, I
love their pancakes! They serve them with fruit tidbits and you can choose
between mango, pineapple, and two more that I forgot to note. One thing that I
didn't like so much was the selection. I don't want to complain too much but I
wish they had more rice meal varieties that came with the free breakfast. They
do have more on the menu but you'd have to pay for it, of course.
Menu and Price
Points
They have many
choices for food and the way I see it, they don't have a "specialty"
or niche dish. On our last night in the hotel, I opted to have dinner at
Koyster since I haven't tried their food yet, except for breakfast. I was
disappointed. The menu looked great, and the price was okay for a resto in
Boracay. But when I saw how little the serving was, I just felt that I didn't
get what I paid for. I ordered their "catch of the day" which was
basically just fish. I didn't want to eat rice and I wanted more protein but
the serving was just too small so I had to eat rice or I would starve. Charles complained that the fish made his
tongue itchy. It only happens when the fish he eats is not fresh and he has
very sensitive taste buds. I really wanted to like the food but I couldn't.
Their iced tea though was very delicious!

Service
We've noticed that
many people, especially foreigners actually like to go to Koyster. The staff
were friendly and accommodating. The restaurant boasts a beach front
accommodation and guests can choose to dine using the beach beds. It was, to
me, the best part of the dining experience; when you're eating dinner, wearing
your swimsuit, lying on a beach bed, and enjoying the sunset.

Final Verdict
As much as I love Koyster's breakfast, I felt like I was cheated on with what I ordered for dinner. Perhaps they had a better dish to offer. I was really just put off with the fact that it was my last dinner in Boracay and I wanted to taste good food but I didn't. I hope I can get the chance to come back and order something else. If in case you go there, please let me know if you liked their food!
