Haul # 7: AUGUST 2013

It’s been almost over month and this is such an overdue post! Welcome to another haul and this is a little extra special because it’s a birthday splurge and by splurge, I mean SPLURGE. I’ve recently been on a trip to Singapore and Malaysia with my family and if you haven’t read the post about that yet, click here. I also did a separate post of my OOTW so you can also check that out.

Of course I didn’t buy anything in Singapore except for souvenirs from the Universal Studios. Everything there is priced about twice or thrice as much as in Malaysia. There were two main places I wanted to shop to: Sephora and Inglot. And yes, I was able to shop quite a few items. I’m saying few because I really do only have a few items but they pretty much cost so much that I felt so empty when I came back home! HAHA.  It is kinda hard to look back and ask myself, “WTF had I done with all that money and why do I only have this much makeup!?” HAHA. It’s not like I regret buying them, I just regret spending so much. But anyway, that’s not the main point of this post.

So without any more blabbering, here are the items that I got for my birthday!

I am a happy girl!
I will start with the items that I got at Sephora in Suria, KLCC. I just wanna say that when I went inside, I was so overwhelmed and I was just stuck there for almost 30 minutes without anything in my basket, it was hilarious! Unfortunately, they didn’t have the Urban Decay Naked Palette in stock which was pretty much the only thing that I really wanted to get. They also didn’t carry Tarte so I think the only reason why I couldn’t choose was because there wasn’t anything to choose from. There was NYX but I only wanted their butter glosses which weren’t even there. I was a little disappointed but grateful to have even been to a Sephora outlet! HAHA.

Indecisive at the Urban Decay counter

So after about 5 rounds in the store, the first item I picked up was the Bare Minerals Mineral Veil. The reason why I got this was because I wanted to get myself a good setting powder. I couldn’t really choose between a few other variants but I went for a translucent one of course.

RM 95 (Php 1275.11)

The next item is the Stila Convertible in Poppy. It’s a cream blush and a lip cream in one. In my frustration with Tarte, I knew I had to get a blush so I just went for this one.

RM 81 (Php 1087.20)
The next item I got, and I’m so happy I got it, is the Too Faced Primed & Poreless Primer for oily skin. I’ve been eyeing this one out including the Hourglass primer but Hourglass wasn’t available there either so I went for this one. I didn’t get Benefit’s Porefessional because I’ve heard more good reviews for Too Faced. I just really regret that I didn’t get the Shadow Insurance (eye primer)!

RM 109 (Php 1463.02)

The last two items I got from Sephora were these liners from NYX. One is the Skinny Black Liner which is for my mom. It’s a retractable liner and it’s a good one. I also got a Slide On liner in Azure and it’s a vibrant blue color.

Skinny Black Liner: RM 26 (Php 348.98); Slide On Pencil: RM 35 (Php 469.78)

The next items I bought were from a mall in Malaysia called Sogo. I really wanted to go to an Inglot store but we were too far from any of the Inglot locations. I had to settle for just an Inglot counter but it’s fine. I got myself my own customized palette. I got to choose the colors I wanted. I’m not quite sure about this but I think that the counter didn’t carry all the eyeshadow colors from Inglot which was quite sad. I was just overwhelmed and quite in a hurry to even choose shades I could substitute with UD’s Naked Palette so I just went for their Rainbow shadows. I also got a nice lid color and two shimmery browns. I have to say, I’m a little disappointed with my selected colors but I can’t really complain because I chose them! I do really love the packaging. The lid is magnetic and the whole thing feels sturdy and durable.

The palette costs RM 45 (Php 604.00) and The eyeshadows range from RM 30-35 (Php 402.67 - 483.20)

A mixture of the rainbows and two shimmery shades

While I was waiting for the very slow salesman at Inglot to put my palette together, I went to the MAC store. I wanted to get a concealer but they didn’t have a shade that can match my skin. I wanted to get a powder but I figured I already have a powder from Bare Minerals so I decided to get a lipstick. MAC has a lot of lipstick variants and I couldn’t choose between them. However, I did want to go for a nude but wearable shade. The basis for my choice was really the shade. I went for one of their satin finishes and it’s in the shade Brave.

RM 68 (Php 912.71)

I wanted to get a powder to use as a bronzer from L’oreal but they didn’t have the shade I wanted. So I went on to the Maybelline shelf and I was so happy to find The Rocket mascara. Unfortunately, Sogo didn’t have the waterproof formula so I just settled for this one. I was also super excited in getting one of the most raved about cream eye products and that’s Maybelline’s Color Tattoo in the famous shade, Bad to the Bronze. This isn’t available in the Philippines so I knew I just had to get one.

RM 19.90 (Php 267.10)

RM 69.9 (Php 938.21)
The next stuff you’re about to see were not purchased in Malaysia. I got them from Duty Free Philippines. I really wanted to get a lipgloss from Elizabeth Arden and Honey which is one of the Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains from Revlon at the Changi Airport in Singapore. The items at the airport were priced quite fairly but I couldn’t get them because apparently, I had to present my boarding pass to pay which was with my mom. And that time, my family was already in the boarding area and I was too far. I had to give them up.

So when I finally found them again at Duty Free, I knew I just had to get them. The thing is with items being sold at the airport is that they are usually packed in sets and the good part is that you could get a good deal out of the items. For example, at the Changi airport, there were lipsticks being sold in threes for a much cheaper price. When I got to Duty Free, it turns out that they also have the same items so I couldn’t just pass up the opportunity.

I wanted to just buy Honey and one particular gloss from Arden but they didn’t sell them individually so I just bought them in sets of threes. I got three Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balms Stains in Sweetheart, Honey and Rendezvous.

L-R Honey, Sweetheart, Rendezvous
I also got a set of three lipglosses from Elizabeth Arden. I have 06 Honey Glaze, 10 Golden Pearl and 19 Pink Pout. I originally just wanted Pink Pout but if bought it individually, I would have spent much money. The box says “3 for the price of 2” which is true enough. I'm so sorry I couldn't get the prices for the sets, I lost the receipts!

L-R Golden Pearl, Pink Pout, Honey Glaze
Then I bought a few other items that were not makeup related. I got myself two items form this brand called Schwarzkpf which is so hard to pronounce. I have the Citre Shine which is a strengthener spray that you use after you shower. I also got a dry shampoo. Then I got an exfoliating soap from St. Ives and two Aveeno lotions. Aveeno is my FAVORITE brand for lotions and I swear by them.

I guess those are all the things I got from the whole trip. Overall, I’m not super satisfied but I still am a happy girl! Haha. If you notice, I didn’t really include any first impressions or mini reviews about the products because I want to make some really in-depth reviews soon about the products that I’ve had for a while. After the huge splurge, I am planning to do a no-buy challenge and I think I’m gonna call it Makeup Breakup. Of course I won’t be posting hauls any time soon and I’m planning to continue the challenge until January 1st. I will definitely update you guys about that. So for now, I’m planning to make review posts and I do have some Thrift Finds posts coming up. I will definitely be taking advantage of the semestral break so I’m looking forward for that.

If you have any questions or suggestions, I’d love to know them. Leave them as a comment below or contact me using the navigation button above.
